Question Back to black and my paint

I have bought Mother's back to black and was applying it to my car. I noticed a black residue on my paint after i applied it to one of my trim pieces. I tried re waxing, water, hand buffing but it won't come off. I need to know how to get this stuff off! Please, anyone help me!

Since Back-to-Black is a creamy white color, I'll guess that you were applying it to a very oxidized rubber trim piece?

If that's the case, it is not uncommon for your applicator to turn black, and if you're not careful, you'll get a streak onto other surfaces.

Did you try a little more Back-to-Black with a clean applictor (microfiber or cotton terry towel, sponge, etc.) to remove the streak?

Back-to-Black has no dyes or color in it. It is light milky white and goes on clear. You may have picked up the black from something else on the trim, or perhaps a dirty applicator/rag. Have you ever used black dyes, markers or any other colored product on the trim? Was the applicator/rag clean, or did it have paint, dye, oil or other dark colored residue on it?

I do not know if the trim has been dyed before. I just purchased the car ('84 BMW 318i) so I was trying to turn the gray trim back to black. Are you saying use back to black on the stuff on my paint to get it off? I'll try that if that's what you mean.

The black on the paint came from somewhere other than the Back-to-Black (there are no dyes or color in it). Without knowing the source, I can't recommend a course of action. It's suprising, however, that a polish was unable to remove the black on your paint. Are you sure you used a polish, and not a wax-only product?
